Applicable Standards

  • ASTM E384 — microindentation hardness testing
  • ASTM E92 — Vickers and Knoop machine/reference-block requirements
  • ISO 6507-1:2023 — Vickers test method
  • ISO 6507-2 — machine verification
  • ISO 6507-3 — reference-block calibration
  • ISO 4545-1 — Knoop testing when configured
  • JIS Z 2244 — Vickers hardness testing

ISO 6507-1:2023 specifies Vickers testing for indentation diagonals between 0.020 and 1.400 mm. Smaller impressions can have substantially greater measurement uncertainty.
