Applicable Standards
- ASTM E384 — microindentation hardness testing
- ASTM E92 — Vickers and Knoop machine/reference-block requirements
- ISO 6507-1:2023 — Vickers test method
- ISO 6507-2 — machine verification
- ISO 6507-3 — reference-block calibration
- ISO 4545-1 — Knoop testing when configured
- JIS Z 2244 — Vickers hardness testing
ISO 6507-1:2023 specifies Vickers testing for indentation diagonals between 0.020 and 1.400 mm. Smaller impressions can have substantially greater measurement uncertainty.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the available force range?
The standard system provides eight forces from 10 to 1000 gf, covering HV0.01 through HV1.
How is it different from the QE-DVH50?
The QE-MVH1000A is optimized for microindentation testing from 10 to 1000 gf. The QE-DVH50 begins at 1 kgf and extends to 50 kgf for macro-Vickers testing.
Does it perform Knoop hardness testing?
Knoop testing is available with the optional Knoop diamond indenter and compatible software.
Is the turret automatic?
Yes. The turret automatically switches between the indenter and optical objectives.
Is the indentation measured automatically?
The configured CCD and computer system supports digital or automatic indentation measurement. The final measurement automation level should be confirmed in the quotation.
